As a kid growing up, I remember that my grandmother always had something growing in her garden all the way up until she turned 100 years old.
She is now 105, bless her heart and just as feisty as ever. And she voluntarily gave up her drivers license simply because she was just tired of driving LOL!
Anyways, I've always wanted to plant a garden but never really had the time to maintain it. But now with everything I've learned about the pesticides that they use and all the GMO issues, I've figured now is a good time to get started.
At first I was going to do things the way I always saw Grandma do it by planting everything in long rows. Then I looked into hydroponics, container gardening and a few other methods. In my research I came across square foot gardening invented by Mel Bartholomew.
This was perfect, low maintenance with a high volume of produce in a small area. 4ftx4ft as a matter of fact so this is the method I will be using. I'll keep the updates coming in as I go through each step. Just know that now I'm having a lot of fun with this project :-)
